The Shiloh Grill's scandalous past revolves around the building's owner at the turn of the 20th century, Kate Soffel. Kate was married to the warden of the Allegheny County Jail and often worked in the jail rehabilitating prisoners. She fell in love with one of the prisoners on death row, Eddie Biddle, who was a member of the notorious "Chloroform Gang". She was so infatuated that she helped Eddie and his brother execute a daring escape. The brothers were killed during their recapture and Kate was sent to the Western Penitentiary. Kate has been seen and heard by numerous Grill visitors and staff. Read more about the story
